  40. First, the question was about the _goals_ of Eiffel; specifically that
  41. it was _intended_ to be a language independent PDL.  If you have
  42. evidence that Meyer designed Eiffel to be an _implementation_ language
  43. independent _specification/design_ language, I would like to see it as
  44. it would conflict with many things Meyer has stated elsewhere.
  45. Whether it can be used as such was _not_ the issue.  Many things can
  46. be used as such.  Personally, I think the calculus presented by Gries
  47. in the _Science of Programming_ is much more capable than Eiffel in
  48. this respect.
